Is your current setup doing more than your business needs?
Make everyday updates easier
Editable layouts and content for the products, campaigns and pages your team changes regularly, without a development ticket for each one.
Simplify tools and ownership
Review overlapping customizations and tools, keep the functions that matter, and agree who looks after each part once the store is live.
Sell wholesale and direct
Assess one blended store or separate storefronts for your business customers, consumers, brands and regions.
Compare the complete investment
Weigh Shopify plans, apps, integrations, development and support against the full cost of running your current setup.
OroCommerce is a capable, purpose-built B2B platform, and Oro offers managed hosting through OroCloud. We don’t assume you run your own servers, and we don’t promise that Shopify costs less or sells more. If your current setup suits the way you sell, we’ll say so in the review.
Confirm the B2B fit before committing to the move
Who buys, and what they may see
Business accounts, branches, buyer users, permissions and the products and prices each company is allowed to access.
How a sale is agreed
Requests for quote, negotiation, sales-side approval, buyer purchasing approval, shopping lists and quick ordering.

Do you need Shopify Plus?
Not automatically. Shopify B2B is now available on the Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus plans. Your pricing and buyer experience decide the setup. We don’t assume every OroCommerce business needs Plus, or that every negotiated pricing arrangement fits a standard plan.
B2B on standard plans
- Companies, locations and B2B checkout
- A limited number of active B2B catalogs, assigned through markets
- Some contextual features from Advanced upward
Wider B2B flexibility
- Catalogs assigned directly to companies or locations
- No market catalog limit
- Deposits, partial payments and other advanced payment options
Based on Shopify’s B2B plan guide, checked October 2026. Limits change, so we confirm them during your review.
Plan the journey from quote request to confirmed order
Request for quote
A buyer asks for pricing or commercial terms on products, quantities or a project.
Starts the sales conversation.Negotiated quote
Your team prepares an offer, possibly with revisions, an expiry date and buyer acceptance.
Revisions and history matter.Sales-side approval
A salesperson may need internal sign-off on a discount or terms before the offer is sent.
Your team’s internal rule.Buyer-side approval
A buyer may need a purchasing manager’s approval before an order can proceed.
Your customer’s internal rule.Repeat purchasing and terms we review, where you use them
- Saved shopping lists
- SKU quick order
- Purchase-list uploads
- Reorders
- Sales-assisted orders
- PO references
- Net payment terms
- Deposits & invoicing
- Freight rules
- Custom workflow steps
Migrating saved lists and building the shopping-list feature are separate tasks. One doesn’t automatically provide the other, and a similar name doesn’t guarantee the same behavior.
Active RFQs and quotes
- 1Complete in OroCommerce
- Quotes close to acceptance finish in the current system before it is retired.
- 2Transition
- Selected quotes move through an agreed, supported Shopify process.
- 3Retain as records
- Expired or closed quotes are kept in an agreed archive for reference.
- 4Owner
- Each open quote has a named person on your team at launch.
- 5Buyer message
- Affected buyers are told how to accept, reorder or ask questions.
Are Shopify draft orders a replacement for OroCommerce quotes?
Draft orders can support an agreed sales process, but they aren’t automatically equivalent to an RFQ conversation, negotiation history, quote revisions, expiry behavior, audit history or custom approval stages. We validate the journey you need and close any gap with an app, development or a changed process.

- Revisions
- Expiry
- Approvals

Make selling units, products and stock work together
| In OroCommerce | What we review | How we decide the Shopify setup |
|---|---|---|
| Units & packs | Each, case, pack, length or weight; unit conversion, rounding, minimums and order increments. | A setup that sells the agreed unit and passes the right quantity to stock and fulfillment. Changing a unit label isn’t enough. |
| Fractional quantities | Where buyers order 2.5 m or 0.75 kg, and how price and stock follow that quantity. | An agreed approach, often an app or development, validated explicitly before it’s approved. |
| Configurable products | Valid choices, identifiers, prices and which record owns stock. | Products with variants for the combinations you actually sell, or another agreed structure. |
| Product kits | Required and optional components, their relationships, pricing and stock behavior. | A supported bundle approach, app or development. Kits aren’t flattened into ordinary variants. |
| Attributes & documents | Product families, technical specifications, data sheets, certificates and images. | Suitable product fields, filters and file storage, with restricted documents kept private. |
We test how a B2B order behaves, not only how many records arrived
In each test order we check
- Product access for that company
- The buyer’s permissions
- The agreed contract price
- Unit conversion and stock
- Tax and shipping
- The order your ERP receives
This is an example of how we test, not results from a client project. We also test what should fail, such as a buyer from another company. Shopify currently limits B2B orders and draft orders to 500 line items, so large purchase lists are tested early.
| Nitrile gloves × 2 cases · North depot buyer · contract $48.00 a case | $96.00 |
|---|---|
| Unit conversion 1 case = 10 boxes | 20 boxes |
| Subtotal before tax & shipping | $96.00 |
| Company location | North depot |
|---|---|
| Contract price | $96.00 |
| Stock reduced | 20 boxes |
| ERP order line | 2 cases |

Not everything becomes Shopify data, and that’s by design
OroCommerce has export and integration capabilities, but a standard export doesn’t automatically contain every relationship, order, quote, activity and custom record. We inspect what your system holds and agree the best home for each kind of information.
- Working Shopify data
- Rebuilt functionality
- A connected system
- An agreed archive
Customer passwords and saved payment credentials aren’t assumed to transfer. Imported orders don’t carry the original payment transactions, and imported history doesn’t recreate permissions or approval workflows. Customer records aren’t automatically marketing subscribers, and files need real access and destination checks.

Recurring orders aren’t the same as subscriptions
A buyer who reorders the same list each month is different from automatic subscription billing. Shopify currently lists subscriptions as incompatible with native B2B, so we don’t promise a seamless subscription transfer or assume a consumer subscription app works in B2B checkout. Any alternative is assessed first.
- Reorders
- Saved lists
- Scheduled orders
- Subscription billing
Keep useful visibility without exposing private B2B information
- Inventory valuable public landing pages, product and category paths and localized URLs
- Map each important page to a relevant Shopify destination and keep useful content and metadata
- Test redirects, old redirect chains, internal links and the agreed indexing checks
- Keep private catalogs, prices and documents out of public pages, feeds and search results
Feeds, campaigns & tracking, where included
- Product feeds
- Campaign landing pages
- Analytics & pixels
- Conversion events
- Consent settings
- Connected channels
An import doesn’t reconnect these services. We check the agreed feeds and tracking after launch, and make sure no restricted B2B data is published by accident.
Shopify has its own URL structure, and rankings can change after any migration. Nobody can honestly promise identical URLs, unchanged rankings or automatic traffic growth.
Example tests only. We agree the real cases from your accounts, catalogs and permissions.
Keep OroCommerce available until nothing depends on it
We resolve first
- Historical records
- Product files & documents
- Open quotes & orders
- Invoices & payment status
- CRM data
- Integration endpoints
- Mailboxes & email services
- Domain & DNS
- Hosting or OroCloud contract
Your domain
Connecting a domain to Shopify is different from transferring its registration. A domain you own can usually stay with its registrar. We review DNS before switching.
Your email
Shopify doesn’t host email inboxes. We check where your mailboxes and transactional email run before any DNS or hosting changes.
Your current system
We keep the agreed exports and source access until dependencies, open quotes, orders and other obligations are resolved.
Access to your current system is always arranged securely after we’ve talked, never through the public enquiry form.

Agree the destination, validate it, then coordinate the switch
Review the B2B fit
We map the must-have workflows, data, integrations and destination options, then agree the scope and the Shopify setup.
Build and validate
We prepare Shopify separately, then test representative buyer journeys and sample records with your team.
Control final changes
We agree a catalog freeze or change log, the cut-off, and the final update of selected buyers, orders, prices and stock.
Launch and reconcile
We coordinate the domain and connections, reconcile late orders—even one—and handle open quotes as agreed.
What we agree before launch day
So the switch is planned, not improvised.
- A catalog freeze or change log. New products, structural changes or altered workflows can affect scope, cost and timing.
- The cut-off time and which system is authoritative for each record type at each stage.
- The final update of selected buyers, orders, prices and stock.
- How open quotes and other obligations are handled, who owns them and what buyers are told.
This is a coordinated migration with a defined cut-off, not ongoing two-way synchronization between OroCommerce and Shopify. We reduce the risks, but no honest agency promises zero downtime or zero data loss.

A B2B migration needs to work for buyers and staff, not just produce imported records
| Your question | Self-service migration tool | Migration managed by WEP |
|---|---|---|
| Who defines the scope? | You choose the records and options the tool supports. | We review your B2B processes and document what moves, what is rebuilt, what stays connected and who does what. |
| Companies, buyers and access? | Customer records may move; relationships and permissions need your own review. | We map companies, locations and buyers and test who can see and order what. |
| Contract prices and quotes? | Price values may move; the rules and open quotes need separate planning. | We rebuild the agreed pricing and plan every open quote at launch. |
| ERP, PIM and CRM? | Usually a separate job for you or another provider. | Each connection gets an owner, a data flow and an acceptance test. |
| Who runs the launch? | Your team coordinates final updates, the domain, redirects and checks. | We run the final update, domain switch, redirects, late-order checks and a month of free support. |
After the move: how we help clients grow
What our migration clients say
Web commerce pros created a really lovely design for our website. They also changed the layout for our images and updated/resized images so that the site is overall much more attractive. We have been receiving a lot of positive feedback from customers on the ease of use and the overall look of our site. In addition, we are very grateful to Roy for coming up with a creative solution for allowing customers to easily create their own quotes, which has been very helpful to both our operations and our customers.
Arfat and team were proficient with BigCommerce Page Builder and Shogun to create and modify pages. We successfully completed the migration with their assistance and were happy with their work. We would hire again soon for our next project.

OroCommerce to Shopify migration questions, answered
Getting started & costs
Yes, once we’ve confirmed the fit. We assess your data, buying workflows and integrations and agree a suitable destination before quoting the move. Some requirements may need a different process, and occasionally the review shows Shopify isn’t the right choice.
Businesses may want easier storefront updates, a simpler mix of tools and customizations, or combined wholesale and direct selling. We compare the required functionality and complete cost rather than assume every OroCommerce business should move.
No. It is designed for B2B commerce and can support complex processes. The question is whether your current implementation fits your business better than the proposed Shopify setup.
Yes. Available features, customizations, exports and hosting arrangements vary by version and edition. We inspect your installed system instead of assuming the current documentation describes every store.
Not automatically. Shopify B2B spans the Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus plans, but catalog assignment, advanced payment options and other capabilities differ. Your pricing and buyer experience drive the recommendation.
We quote after reviewing your workflows, data, design and integrations, so no fixed price or delivery date is promised beforehand. Shopify plans, apps, payment costs and retained systems are listed separately.
No. A fair comparison includes implementation, plans, apps, integrations, ongoing support and any systems you keep. We assess the proposed setup rather than promise savings.
Send your store URL and a short description of how your customers buy and how your team sells. We arrange deeper access securely after we’ve talked. Every migration includes one month of free post-launch migration support within the agreed scope.
Buyers, pricing & quotes
We map the effective products, prices and eligibility and rebuild the agreed rules. Assigning catalogs directly to companies or locations is currently a Shopify Plus feature, and copying price-list rows alone doesn’t recreate OroCommerce’s pricing logic.
We review businesses, branches and buyer users separately and agree the destination relationships and permissions. Shopify company locations don’t automatically reproduce every nested structure or custom role.
We test assigned companies and locations, order history and visibility, including logged-out visits and users who shouldn’t have access.
We assess your request, negotiation, approval, acceptance and expiry requirements. The proposal defines a suitable replacement or a retained sales process; existing workflow states aren’t assumed to be portable.
We agree which quotes are completed in OroCommerce, transitioned through a supported process or kept as records, each with an owner and a plan for telling the buyer.
They can support an agreed sales workflow, but they aren’t automatically equivalent to a full RFQ conversation, negotiation history or approval process. We validate the journey you need.
We treat them as separate requirements and review their rules, permissions and audit needs. A suitable app, integration or development may be required, and exact parity isn’t guaranteed.
We review saved lists, SKU entry, purchase-list uploads and repeat-order behavior. Moving the saved records and building the working feature are scoped separately.
Catalog, data & systems
We agree the selling unit, conversions, quantity rules and price calculations, then test them on Shopify. Changing a unit label isn’t enough to recreate this behavior.
We assess choices, component relationships, pricing and stock behavior before choosing suitable products, an app or development. Kits and variants aren’t interchangeable.
The accessible fields and files we agree on can be mapped to suitable destinations. We check file access, matching, permissions and how the information should appear.
We agree the fields, date range, company associations and how history appears in Shopify or an archive. Historical orders don’t transfer the original payment transactions or recreate operational approvals.
They aren’t assumed to transfer. We plan the Shopify account transition and any separate payment-provider requirements; native Shopify B2B uses Shopify’s current customer accounts.
Only if they’re explicitly scoped. OroCRM contacts, opportunities and activities are different from customer records. They may stay in a connected CRM or need a separate project.
We review the interfaces and agree record ownership, update flows, error handling and reconciliation. Existing connectors don’t automatically become Shopify integrations.
We separate repeat purchasing from automatic subscription billing. Shopify currently lists subscriptions as incompatible with native B2B, so any alternative is assessed before we commit to it.
Structure, SEO & launch
We assess the commercial and legal structure, domains, catalogs and shared operations. Shopify Markets or separate stores can suit different needs, but neither automatically reproduces the OroCommerce structure.
A blended setup can work well. We review permissions, presentation, pricing and app compatibility before choosing one combined store or separate stores.
We rebuild the agreed design and map useful public content and URLs. OroCommerce themes don’t install on Shopify, and rankings can fluctuate even with careful migration checks.
Yes. We normally build Shopify separately, then agree the final updates, cut-off and reconciliation, including late orders, changing prices and open quotes.
