Why merchants make the move

5 reasons to migrate from Zoey to Shopify

Your business needs may have changed since you chose Zoey. Platform costs, missing integrations or a storefront that no longer fits your brand can make you reconsider. Here are five reasons Shopify could be your next step—and what we assess before recommending the move.
Illustrative example. Names and numbers are made up and this is not a real store.

What does your store really cost to run today?

When platform fees, additional user licenses and customer account charges grow, it is worth reviewing what your business actually needs.

Shopify may offer a more economical setup, particularly for simpler wholesale requirements. We compare the complete running cost—including the Shopify plan, apps and integrations needed to replace your Zoey workflows—so you can judge the savings before committing.

Is connecting your business tools becoming another project?

Your store needs to work with your accounting, inventory, marketing and fulfillment systems. When a ready-made connection is unavailable, the work needed to connect and maintain those tools can hold up other priorities.

Shopify’s app ecosystem gives you more options to explore. We review your existing connections, identify suitable replacements and scope any custom integration work before the migration begins.

Does your storefront still reflect the business you have built?

You may want clearer navigation, stronger product pages or more control over promotions and landing pages. If your current setup makes those changes difficult, migration is an opportunity to rethink the shopping experience.

Shopify offers a choice of themes with editable sections and templates. We build around your catalog and buying journeys, giving your team control over the content they update regularly.

Are you managing two sides of the business separately?

Separate wholesale and retail setups can mean maintaining content, coordinating inventory and checking orders across systems.

Shopify can bring both sales models into one platform, so your team manages products, inventory and orders for both from one admin, while giving wholesale buyers an appropriate experience. We assess your customer pricing, restricted catalogs, minimum quantities and payment terms to determine the right Shopify plan and any additional apps.

Do you want more choice in who supports your store?

As your business changes, you may need specialists for design, integrations, marketing or ongoing development. Having more providers to choose from gives you flexibility over how that work gets done.

Shopify’s partner ecosystem offers a broad choice of agencies and developers. WEP can manage the migration and ongoing improvements, with clear documentation so your team understands how the new store works.

New in 2026 · Shopify B2B

Wholesale on Shopify no longer starts with a Plus subscription

If Shopify Plus pricing kept you on Zoey, the options have changed. We can check whether your wholesale business now fits a lower Shopify plan.
  • What changed

On April 2, 2026, Shopify extended its core B2B features to the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans, with no extra B2B platform charge. Before that, native B2B needed Shopify Plus.

  • Why it matters for Zoey merchants

If Plus pricing ruled Shopify out for your wholesale business before, the numbers may look different now. Wholesale and retail can run in one Shopify store on a standard plan, if your requirements fit.

  • Know the limits

Lower plans allow up to 3 active B2B catalogs in total. Catalogs for individual companies, deposits and partial payments stay on Plus. Shopify B2B isn’t available on Starter or Retail.

Wholesale features by Shopify plan

B2B catalogs (custom price lists)Up to 3 active, across all B2B markets combinedUnlimited

Deposits & partial paymentsNot availableIncluded

Checked against Shopify’s B2B plan comparison ↗ in October 2026. Catalogs on lower plans use Shopify’s new Markets. We confirm the current features again when we quote.

Shopify Plus price, for context: Shopify’s 2023 partner update listed a $2,000/month Plus minimum. Shopify’s pricing page now lists standard setups from $2,300/month on a 3-year term or $2,500/month on a 1-year term (October 2026).

Wholesale fit check

Find out whether your wholesale model fits

Three catalogs doesn’t mean three customers. One catalog can serve every buyer who shares a price list. Whether a lower plan fits depends on how your prices and product access are organized, not on how many accounts you have.

Review My Wholesale Requirements
  • Retail shoppers on public pricesStandard Shopify pricing, on any plan
  • Wholesale buyers sharing one or a few price listsOften fits B2B catalogs on Basic, Grow or Advanced
  • Quantity breaks and minimum order quantitiesQuantity rules and volume pricing on every B2B plan
  • Negotiated prices for many individual accountsNeeds review: Plus, an app or custom work may be required

The 2026 update opens the conversation. Your review decides the plan, apps and total cost. We don’t assume savings.

What needs special attention

A successful wholesale move starts with the buying rules

Moving products is the easy part. A wholesale buyer notices right away if they see the wrong price, the wrong products or can’t order for their location. We answer these questions before we build.

Why a product import isn’t enough

A product with one priceWhat a basic import creates
Everyone sees the same price
Group, tier and account pricesHow your Zoey buyers are priced today
Catalogs, quantity rules, an app or custom work

We document the expected price for real buyers first, then choose how to build it.

Account structure and buyer access

  • Which business does each contact belong to?
  • Which locations can they order for?
  • Who can approve purchases or see restricted products?

The price each buyer should see

  • Which customer group or catalog applies?
  • Which quantity breaks and minimums apply?
  • Which negotiated prices and discounts override them?

Quotes, terms and receivables

  • What happens to open quotes and draft orders?
  • How are payment terms, credit limits and deposits handled?
  • Where do unpaid invoices and balances live after launch?

Your systems and sales team

  • How do ERP, accounting and warehouse systems connect?
  • How do sales reps create quotes and orders for accounts?
  • Which system owns products, prices and stock after the move?

Export and preparation

Zoey can export your data. A CSV file still isn’t a working store.

Zoey provides CSV exports and a Data Mapper for products, accounts, contacts, orders and related records. We use them, then make sure the relationships between records survive the move.

Already have exports or a partial migration? Share it with your review request and we’ll check what’s usable. We can’t promise to recover data that isn’t available.

  1. 1Identify the records and fields your scope needs
  2. 2Check what the Zoey exports actually contain
  3. 3Keep stable references to link accounts, contacts, prices and orders
  4. 4Prepare the data for each Shopify import method
  5. 5Reconcile agreed record counts and test sample results
  6. 6Document any gaps and exclusions before launch

Migration or integration

Are you replacing Zoey, or adding Shopify alongside it?

Zoey offers its own Shopify integration. That is a different setup from a full migration, so we agree which model fits before we scope the work.
Shopify alongside Zoey

Keep Zoey and connect the two platforms

  • Zoey stays in place for some operations
  • Selected product, inventory, order and shipment data syncs between the two
  • Each system needs a clear owner for products, prices, stock and transactions
  • We check what the connector actually supports for your setup first
Full migration

Move from Zoey to Shopify

  • Your agreed data moves to Shopify
  • Selected Zoey workflows are rebuilt in Shopify
  • Open quotes, invoices and final orders get a handover plan
  • One system of record after launch

An integration that syncs selected records doesn’t migrate your account structure, permissions or financial history. If Zoey stays important for wholesale operations, we assess the integration before recommending a full replacement.

SEO and connected services

Plan for your existing links, traffic and connected tools

Zoey serves products and categories at short root-level addresses. Shopify uses /products/ and /collections/, so most store URLs change. We plan a relevant destination for each important one and never send everything to the homepage.
  • Review important landing pages, metadata and internal links
  • Map product, category and content URLs to relevant new pages
  • Test legacy paths and list the exceptions
  • Check references to old hosting, files and images
  • Reconnect agreed analytics, ad destinations and product feeds
  • Review errors after launch and fix broken links

Rankings, traffic and ad performance can change during any platform move, and no one can honestly guarantee them. We work to avoid preventable problems and catch issues early.

Illustrative example. Your URL map is built from your store’s actual pages.

  • Domain Usually stays where it’s registered. Only the records pointing to your store change.
  • Business email Shopify doesn’t host mailboxes. Mail records must stay correct at launch.
  • Feeds & tracking Product identifiers and URLs change, so feeds and purchase tracking need review.
A full-service ecommerce agency

One team for the move and the Shopify store

We don’t just move records. The team that migrates your data can build the storefront, develop custom features and support your marketing after launch.
Option 1

Set up a new Shopify theme

We choose and configure a theme around your products, buyers and how they order.

Option 2

Customize a Shopify theme

We adapt layouts, product pages and buyer workflows to suit wholesale and retail customers.

Option 3

Recreate your existing design

We rebuild an agreed version of the look your customers know. A Zoey theme doesn’t run in Shopify, so the design is rebuilt rather than copied.

Migration is quoted on its own. Additional development and ongoing marketing are scoped and priced separately, only if you want them.

Web commerce pros created a really lovely design for our website. They also changed the layout for our images and updated/resized images so that the site is overall much more attractive. We have been receiving a lot of positive feedback from customers on the ease of use and the overall look of our site. In addition, we are very grateful to Roy for coming up with a creative solution for allowing customers to easily create their own quotes, which has been very helpful to both our operations and our customers.

FAQ

Zoey to Shopify migration questions, answered

Straight answers about your move, from wholesale pricing and customer accounts to SEO, launch and support.

Planning

Possibly, but not automatically. Zoey is built for wholesale, so the question is whether Shopify can match the way you sell. Since April 2, 2026, Shopify’s core B2B features are available beyond Plus, which makes a move worth reviewing. We then check your pricing, payment terms, approvals, integrations and total running cost, and tell you where a Zoey feature would work differently or need an app.

Yes, a simple store can be moved yourself, and both platforms have import and export tools. The harder part is everything a file leaves out: mapping fields, rebuilding accounts, price rules and permissions, designing the storefront, connecting your systems, testing with real buyers and planning the switch. If you would rather spend that time running the business, we coordinate the move from store review to launch.

A migration app moves the records it supports, but you still decide the scope, map the data, rebuild wholesale pricing and access rules, check the results and manage the launch. We use migration tools and our own scripts where they help, inside a managed process. You review a sample and a private preview before launch, with one team responsible for the agreed project.

We have been an official Shopify Partner since 2015 and have more than 20 years of ecommerce experience. We have moved Zoey stores, including one to Shopify with a custom theme and B2B setup. The same team can also build the storefront and support SEO and marketing after launch, under a separate agreed scope.

Every migration includes a free store review, a written plan, a sample import you approve, redirects and SEO checks, and 60 days of free support after launch. Complete adds data cleanup, a new or rebuilt storefront and Zoey features rebuilt with Shopify features or apps. Enterprise adds customer groups, price lists, purchase orders, payment terms, ERP connections and custom work. Your proposal lists exactly what moves, what is rebuilt and what is excluded.

It depends on your account structure, pricing rules, open transactions, order history, storefront and integrations. Complete migrations are quoted after a free store review. Enterprise projects start with a free discovery call and ballpark estimate, followed by a paid discovery sprint credited to your project. Shopify plans, apps and other third-party costs are listed separately from our fee, so you can see the full cost of the move.

There is no fixed timeline. Your proposal gives a schedule after we review your store. Product count matters less than account structure, pricing rules, integrations, storefront work, testing and how quickly your team can approve each step. Your Zoey store stays live while we build, and we plan the launch window around your business.

We commit to a sample import you approve, testing before launch and 60 days of free support for migration issues within the agreed scope. Any refund or warranty terms are written into your proposal before work starts, so we don’t promise them here. We can’t guarantee rankings or sales, or that every Zoey feature has an identical Shopify replacement.
