Ready to build your next stage on Shopify?
Refresh your storefront
Plan navigation, product presentation and the mobile buying journey around how your customers discover and buy.
Give your team a suitable editing workflow
Editable templates and content sections for the campaigns, collections and pages you update regularly.
Connect the tools your business needs
We assess inventory, fulfillment, marketing and reporting connections rather than carry over a setup that no longer fits.
Review the whole setup and its cost
Compare the proposed Shopify plan, apps, theme and payment costs with your current Ecwid and website arrangement.
Ecwid is a capable hosted platform, and not every Ecwid store needs to move. It already offers mobile layouts, SEO settings, product variations and integrations. If your current setup fits how you sell, we’ll say so in the review. When a move does make sense, we show what changes, what it costs and who looks after each part.
What happens to the website your Ecwid store lives in?
Moving an Ecwid Instant Site
We scope the storefront, information pages, navigation, images and files, plus the domain connection and existing links. The Instant Site design is rebuilt in Shopify; it doesn’t install as a Shopify theme.
Moving the whole surrounding website
If Ecwid sits inside WordPress, Wix or another platform, its pages, blog posts, forms, media, navigation and design belong to that platform. We scope them separately, because an Ecwid catalog export doesn’t include the rest of the website.
Keeping the surrounding website
Where it suits you, the content site stays and connects to Shopify commerce. We assess navigation, store location and routing, product links, checkout, analytics, required features and ongoing ownership and costs.
- Ecwid Instant Site
- WordPress website
- Wix website
- Another website or CMS
- Other Ecwid embeds
- Buy buttons
- Product links
- Partner-site placements
- Campaign links
- Social catalogs
Why a catalog export isn’t the whole website
- The Ecwid catalog holds products, options, customers and orders
- Pages, blog posts and forms may live in the surrounding website, not in Ecwid
- Every selling location needs an update or retirement plan, or customers reach an old cart
- A linked Shopify store, an embedded selling option and a full Shopify website are different approaches
Keeping a website doesn’t mean swapping the Ecwid widget for an identical Shopify one. A Shopify Buy Button or linked store has its own features and limits, so we review it against your requirements. We confirm any same-domain or routing arrangement only after checking feasibility.
Start with the store, website and channels you actually have
Your Ecwid account & exports
Your plan, the catalog, customer and order exports available on your account, and which fields they actually contain. Ecwid by Lightspeed is reviewed on its own terms; other Lightspeed products are separate systems.
Catalog & product choices
Products, categories, options, variations, customer input fields, images, files and identifiers, and how each relationship should work in Shopify.
Customers, orders & subscribers
Customer records, addresses, order history, open orders and marketing consent. A customer isn’t automatically an opted-in subscriber.
Website, channels & connections
The surrounding website, other embeds and buy links, Google and social catalogs, POS, inventory, apps and tracking, so we know what must keep working.
Account access and exports are arranged through a secure, private onboarding channel after the review, never through the enquiry form.

Products & catalogProducts, options, variations, categories, images, files 5 areas
| Ecwid | Where it goes in Shopify | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Products, SKUs & identifiers | Products, variants and suitable custom fields. | Titles, descriptions, SKUs, prices, weights, attributes and formatting. Source IDs are kept for matching, not confused with SKUs. |
| Options, variations & input fields | Agreed variants, product configuration, an options app or custom work. | Valid combinations, stock, variation images, pricing and required customer choices. |
| Categories & product membership | Collections and navigation. | Hierarchy, memberships and how customers browse. |
| Images & files | Shopify media and files. | Main, additional and variation images, embedded content assets and access to originals. Remaining dependencies on old URLs are removed. |
| Downloadable files | A separate delivery plan, where included. | Original files, download access, delivery and existing customer entitlements. |
Customers, orders & marketingCustomers, consent, order history, open orders, reviews 5 areas
| Ecwid | Where it goes in Shopify | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Customers & addresses | Customer records and appropriate segmentation. | Available details, duplicates and relationships. Account access is planned separately. |
| Marketing preferences | Supported consent fields, where evidence exists. | Subscriber status versus the full customer list. We don’t assume every customer agreed to marketing. |
| Historical orders | A suitable order-import method, for the agreed date range. | Line items, product choices, customer matching, dates, statuses and totals. Old payments aren’t re-run. |
| Open orders | A separate operational plan. | Who fulfills, refunds and supports each order. Copying the record doesn’t decide that. |
| Reviews | A compatible reviews app, after assessment. | Export access, product matching and destination support. |
Website & contentInstant Site, surrounding website, media, design 4 areas
| Ecwid | Where it goes in Shopify | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Instant Site pages & navigation | Shopify pages and navigation, rebuilt in your theme. | Accessible content, formatting, images and menu structure. |
| Surrounding website pages & blog | Shopify pages and blog, or a retained site, scoped separately. | Content ownership, source access, forms and media on the other platform. |
| Store design & layout | A Shopify theme: new, customized or a recreated version of your look. | Mobile layouts, navigation and editable sections. Ecwid layouts don’t install as a theme. |
| Other Ecwid embeds & buy links | Updated to the new selling path, or retired. | Every site, page and campaign that still points at the old cart. |
SEO, channels & other recordsOld links, metadata, gift cards, discounts, connections 5 areas
| Ecwid | Where it goes in Shopify | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| SEO metadata & existing links | Agreed metadata and an old-to-new URL plan. | Actual hostnames, clean and legacy URLs, internal links and destination control. |
| Existing redirects | Tested Shopify redirects, where Shopify serves the address. | Redirect history, query and fragment links, and provider-owned addresses. |
| Gift cards & store credit | A reconciled, redeemable solution, as agreed. | Unused value, ownership, redemption rules and POS dependencies. An export alone doesn’t create balances. |
| Discounts & customer pricing | Shopify discounts, settings or a suitable app. | The actual behavior, not just labels or group names, and any plan requirements. |
| Feeds, POS & connected tools | Supported connectors, or integration work scoped separately. | Source of truth, product identifiers and imports that could trigger emails or fulfillment. |
No standard CSV is a complete working-store backup. Existing passwords, saved payment credentials and every app’s data aren’t assumed to transfer, and a successful product import doesn’t mean the whole store has moved.
Handle the records your customers trust with care
Historical orders
For the agreed date range, we check line items, product choices, customer matching, dates, statuses and totals. Imported history is a record; it doesn’t re-run old payments.
Customer accounts
Existing passwords aren’t migrated. We plan the transition around the Shopify account setup you choose, which may use email sign-in codes, then test sign-in and order history.
Contacts & consent
Buyers and opted-in subscribers stay distinct. We map the consent information available; a purchase alone doesn’t subscribe anyone.
Notifications & open orders
Before importing history, we review notifications and connected automations, so no unintended emails, fulfillment actions or marketing flows are triggered. Open orders get their own plan for fulfillment, refunds and support.
Transfer the records. Recreate the features your business depends on.

Gift cards sold online and in store
- 1Required behavior
- Customers redeem the same balance on the website and at the counter.
- 2Shopify route
- Shopify gift cards or a suitable app, depending on your plan and POS.
- 3Data transfer
- Unused balances are reconciled, then recreated as redeemable value.
- 4Workflow change
- Staff check balances in Shopify or the chosen app.
- 5Recurring cost
- Any app or plan cost is listed in your proposal.
- 6Customer message
- Agreed wording explains where existing cards can be used.
- SubscriptionsRecurring billingCompatible apps and a continuity plan. We assess payment-provider compatibility, customer authorization, active obligations and the communication needed. Historical records don’t transfer saved payment credentials or guarantee uninterrupted billing.
- Digital productsFiles & accessA separate delivery plan: original files, download access, delivery and existing customer entitlements. A migrated product record doesn’t recreate download fulfillment.
- Bookings & servicesDates & capacitySuitable destination tools, with dates, capacity, availability, existing bookings and staff workflow checked.
- Gift cards & store creditOutstanding valueReconciled balances: unused value, ownership, redemption rules, POS dependencies and customer communication. Exporting gift-card information doesn’t create redeemable Shopify balances.
- Pickup & local deliveryLocations & zonesA suitable Shopify fulfillment setup, with locations, delivery zones, dates and any capacity rules checked against how you fulfill orders today.
- Discounts & customer pricingRules & groupsShopify discounts, settings or a suitable app, based on actual behavior rather than labels. We check current Shopify capabilities; not every wholesale need requires Shopify Plus.
Using Lightspeed or another POS? That’s its own decision.
Migrating Ecwid doesn’t automatically migrate your POS, and an existing connector isn’t assumed to work unchanged with Shopify. We review:
- Exact POS product & version
- Current integration
- Stock source of truth
- Product & variant matching
- Online & in-store orders
- Fulfillment
- Gift-card dependencies
We test the agreed destination connection and explain any separate implementation scope.
Plan the old links before switching the store
- Review existing domains, subdomains and the links that are actually indexed
- Map important product, category and content links to relevant Shopify pages
- Check redirects already in place, plus campaign and external links
- Carry over useful metadata and internal links, then check sitemaps and indexing controls after launch
Two links that need extra care
- Older hash (#!) links
- Ecwid-provided addresses
A URL fragment isn’t an ordinary server path, and browser-side handling isn’t the same as a server-side 301. We can’t control a provider-owned address after cancellation. We agree a feasible approach and document the limits first.
We don’t send every old link to the homepage. Rankings and traffic can change after a migration; we reduce the avoidable risks, but nobody can honestly guarantee unchanged rankings, zero traffic loss or an automatic SEO improvement.
Example mapping only. Your store’s patterns depend on its setup; we inventory the actual links and test each type.
Your feeds, ads and stock connections need a launch plan too
Google & social catalogs
Account access, product identifiers, landing-page changes, the selected feed connection and diagnostics. We avoid leaving old and new feeds active at the same time.
Inventory & fulfillment
The source of truth, order routing, product matching, cut-off and stock updates. We test that new orders reach the right place and reduce the right stock.
Analytics & ads
Agreed events, pixels, consent handling and checkout tracking, then test purchases and a check for duplicate reporting.
Old embeds & buy links
We update or remove the agreed Ecwid selling widgets and check campaign destinations, so new orders don’t go through an old cart by accident.
Product identifiers, ad history and audience matching aren’t guaranteed to stay unchanged, and a migration doesn’t guarantee approval by Google, Meta or any other platform.
One team for the migration and the store you want to build
Set up a new Shopify theme
We choose and configure a theme around your brand, catalog and customer journey.
Customize a Shopify theme
We adapt templates, product layouts and navigation to how you sell.
Recreate agreed elements of your look
Keep what your customers know. We agree the pages and details that matter and rebuild them for Shopify.
Ecwid widgets, Instant Site layouts and another platform’s theme don’t automatically become a Shopify theme; they’re rebuilt. We don’t promise a pixel-identical copy by default, and complex functionality is scoped explicitly.

Keep selling on Ecwid while we prepare Shopify
Review and agree
We identify Ecwid, the surrounding website, connected systems and business requirements, then agree the scope and costs.
Prepare, build and test
We validate representative records and complex products, and build Shopify separately while Ecwid continues trading.
Refresh and switch
We run the final update of selected orders, customers, prices and stock, then make the agreed website, domain, channel and embed changes.
Reconcile and support
We check late orders, remaining embeds, old links and agreed integrations. Even one late order through an old embed is accounted for.
Your catalog during the migration
Product changes need coordinating, just like orders.
- We agree a catalog freeze or a simple change log, a cut-off and the source of truth.
- Prices, stock and orders follow the agreed final-update plan, so you keep selling.
- New products, deletions and option changes can add work or another import. We tell you upfront if that affects cost or timing.
- Any temporary checkout restrictions are agreed, timed and documented.
Switch the store without losing the services around it
We review
- Where the website will run
- Where email is hosted
- DNS records
- Retained website hosting
- Media & file links
- Exports & historical access
Keep your domain
Domain registration doesn’t normally need to move just because the store platform changes. We plan the DNS changes around where the website and store will run.
Keep your email working
Shopify hosts the store, not email inboxes. Mail and DNS records are reviewed separately before anything changes.
Keep records and access for now
Retain the agreed exports, media and historical records until the final-order and dependency checks are complete.
Don’t cancel Ecwid the moment Shopify launches. First check remaining selling embeds, late transactions, active subscriptions, gift-card value, exports, media and connected services. If you keep the surrounding website, its hosting may still be needed.
Compare the complete cost of running the store
Ecwid
- Your Ecwid plan
- The website or CMS around the store, if any
- Apps and add-ons
- Payment processing under your current setup
- Domain, email and other services
Shopify
- The Shopify plan your requirements need
- Payment processing and any third-party transaction fees
- Apps for the features you keep
- Theme, development and agency work
- Any website services you retain
Shopify isn’t always cheaper. You see both sides before you decide.
Plan the payment setup
Your current payment provider and customers’ saved card details don’t move as ordinary customer fields. The Shopify provider is set up separately, so we check:
- Your country, region and business eligibility
- The payment methods your customers need
- Provider compatibility, approval and applicable fees
- Subscriptions that need a continuity plan
- Access to refunds and historical payment records
We can’t guarantee the same provider or rates on Shopify.

Migration tools can help
Ecwid exports and third-party migration services can move common records, and some providers offer human support and testing. Where a tool suits your store, we can use it as part of the project. Our value is the coordinated scope around it: the website, product behavior, features, channels and launch.

- Third-party migration tools
- Authorized API methods

After the move: how we help clients grow
What our migration clients say
Web commerce pros created a really lovely design for our website. They also changed the layout for our images and updated/resized images so that the site is overall much more attractive. We have been receiving a lot of positive feedback from customers on the ease of use and the overall look of our site. In addition, we are very grateful to Roy for coming up with a creative solution for allowing customers to easily create their own quotes, which has been very helpful to both our operations and our customers.
Arfat and team were proficient with BigCommerce Page Builder and Shogun to create and modify pages. We successfully completed the migration with their assistance and were happy with their work. We would hire again soon for our next project.

Ecwid to Shopify migration questions, answered
Your setup, website & costs
Yes. We review your Ecwid by Lightspeed setup, catalog, website and connected tools, then agree the accessible records and the Shopify solution. Other Lightspeed products are separate systems, so we confirm exactly what you use. The scope includes only the data and work stated in your proposal.
Yes. Instant Site is a single source website. An embedded store also sits inside a separate website, so we need to decide what happens to that surrounding content, design and navigation.
We can assess keeping that website and connecting it to Shopify commerce. The route depends on your requirements. A Buy Button or linked store isn’t an identical replacement for every Ecwid feature, and we confirm any routing or same-domain setup only after checking feasibility.
We can scope rebuilding the agreed website content and storefront in Shopify. Pages and blog posts outside Ecwid need access to their actual source; they aren’t included just by importing the catalog.
We can recreate agreed design elements or build a refreshed Shopify theme. Ecwid layouts, embed styling and another platform’s templates don’t transfer directly as a Shopify theme.
We choose suitable methods for your data and requirements. Tools may assist with the transfer, and some providers include human support. Our service also covers mapping, review, the storefront, features, channels, testing and launch.
We quote after reviewing catalog complexity, website scope, data volume, features, integrations, design, validation and launch. No fixed price or duration is promised before the review. Shopify, app, theme, payment and any retained website costs are separate where they apply.
Products & data
The agreed accessible data can include products, categories, images, customers and historical orders, plus selected content and other records after assessment. Replacing features such as subscriptions or bookings is scoped separately.
Yes, where it’s suitable. Ecwid’s catalog file contains different record types with relationships between them, and it isn’t a ready-made Shopify product CSV. We map and transform it for the chosen import method and validate a sample first.
We separate stock-tracked combinations from paid extras and personalization, then test the agreed Shopify solution for price, stock and the information captured on orders. Some requirements need an app or development.
We review the available identifiers and quantities and map them to the agreed combinations in Shopify. External inventory systems or a POS may need separate integration decisions.
We assess the customer and fulfillment workflow, then agree suitable features, apps or development. Copying the product record alone doesn’t recreate download access, upload handling or booking rules.
We assess the available records, unused value and destination solution, including any POS dependencies. Exporting gift-card information doesn’t automatically create redeemable Shopify balances, so we reconcile and recreate them as agreed.
Customers, POS & channels
Accessible agreed records can be imported with a suitable method. We validate customer relationships, line items, totals and statuses, review notifications before importing, and plan open orders separately.
No. We review the consent information available and keep opted-in subscribers distinct from the full customer list. A purchase alone isn’t treated as permission to send marketing.
Existing passwords aren’t migrated. We plan the customer message around the Shopify account setup you choose, which may use email sign-in codes, and test sign-in before launch.
We assess provider compatibility, customer authorization and billing continuity separately. Historical subscription records don’t transfer saved payment credentials or guarantee uninterrupted recurring charges.
We review the exact POS product, the stock source of truth and the Shopify connections available. Migrating Ecwid doesn’t automatically migrate the POS, and an existing connector isn’t assumed to work unchanged with Shopify.
We plan the agreed channel reconnection, product identifiers, landing pages and diagnostics. Existing feeds and campaigns are reviewed rather than assumed to follow the data import, and platform approval isn’t guaranteed.
SEO, launch & support
We inspect your actual URLs and domain control before agreeing the approach. Older hash links and Ecwid-provided addresses can have limits that ordinary Shopify path redirects can’t solve, and we document them first.
Usually, yes. An existing domain can generally be connected to the new setup. We review where the website, store and email will run before changing DNS, and the registration doesn’t normally need to move.
We plan agreed content, URL and indexing checks to reduce avoidable issues. A migration alone doesn’t guarantee more visitors or unchanged rankings; ongoing SEO and marketing may still be needed.
Generally, yes. We build Shopify separately while Ecwid keeps trading. The launch plan defines the final updates, the changes to embeds and feeds, and how late activity is reconciled.
We agree a catalog freeze or a change log. New or deleted products and changed options can affect the work, timeline and quote, so we tell you upfront.
Only after resolving records, media, obligations, integrations and remaining selling links, including subscriptions and gift-card value. If the surrounding website stays, its hosting may still be needed.
One month of free post-launch migration support is included within the agreed scope. Start with your store URL, approximate catalog size and important requirements; deeper access is arranged securely after the first discussion.
